The Next Generation of Apple: iPhone 18 Pro Series and Foldable 'iPhone Duo'
Apple has completely re-engineered its annual smartphone rollout, splitting its premium and budget ecosystems down the middle. They introduced the premium iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max alongside its first-ever foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, during its special launch event on September 9, 2026. The premium Pro models officially went on sale on September 18, 2026, starting at €1,489 for the Pro and €1,639 for the Pro Max in Ireland. While power users can get their hands on the premium Pro lineup immediately, buyers seeking the standard, entry-level variants will have to wait a little longer. For the first time, Apple is staggering its release timeline, delaying the base iPhone 18 versions until early next year.

The Premium Lineup Breakdown
The premium Pro models went on official sale across Europe, bringing monumental internal and external architectural shifts. Powered by the industry-first 2nm A20 Pro silicon chip and packed with a mandatory 12GB of RAM, these devices are built from the ground up to maximize the processing boundaries of iOS 27 and on-device Apple Intelligence.
Visually, users will immediately notice a 35% smaller Dynamic Island cutout. Flip the device over, and the Pro line introduces a groundbreaking 48MP main sensor featuring a mechanical variable aperture, allowing photographers to physically adjust light intake and depth-of-field seamlessly.

The iPhone Duo: Apple’s Foldable Era Begins
Stealing the spotlight from traditional form factors is the iPhone Duo. Operating on a book-style horizontal hinge mechanism, it folds down into a pocketable 5.4-inch chassis but opens up to reveal a massive, crease-resistant 7.6-inch canvas. The Duo utilizes the same A20 Pro silicon to handle multitasking workflows, treating the tablet-sized inner screen as a fluid, split-window workspace.

Meanwhile, the standard, more affordable iPhone 18 models are delayed and expected to arrive in spring 2027.

Expected Spring 2027 Base Models
