Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 29, 2026
At TheWebstats, we believe in web analytics that respect user privacy. This policy outlines how we handle data across our platform.
1. Data We Process
We do not collect personal data, IP addresses, or any Identifiable Information (PII). To provide analytics, our script processes:
- Anonymous UUIDs: A random string stored in the browser to distinguish unique visitors without knowing who they are.
- Technical Data: Device type, browser type, operating system, and screen resolution.
- Performance Metrics: Page load speed times to help site owners improve performance.
- Behavioral Data: Time spent active on a page, exclusion of idle or hidden tabs, and traffic referral sources (UTMs).
2. How We Process Data
Data is collected to give site owners aggregate statistics. We use heartbeat pings to detect live presence. No tracking cookies are used to follow users across different websites. We strictly honor "Do Not Track" headers.
3. Data Retention and Security
All data is sent securely using modern encryption protocols. Because everything is entirely anonymized, we do not store profiles of real individuals.
4. Optional AI Features
If you choose to use Ask AI, you supply your own API key for the AI provider you select. We store that key encrypted and use it only to send the questions you ask, together with a compact summary of your site's analytics, to that provider. What the provider does with that data is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
